This particular weekend gives a welcome chance for the drivers to dust off the cobwebs after a very lengthy winter period, but also shows an indication of what can be anticipated of the action that is set to be a welcome part of the campaign.

The amount of international talent that has made its way through its doors is somewhat both captivating and inspiring, as drivers such as F1 world champion Max
Verstappen, Formula E’s Oliver Askew, Indycar racer Rinus Van Kalmthout and rallycross racer Kobe Pauwels have set an example for where others can clearly follow.

Over the course of three double header weekends during just under six months, both Karting Genk and Mariembourg’s Karting Des Fagnes will host drivers from all six classes within the Rotax racing family, with
tickets for the 2022 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portimao for those that hit the top step of the podium.

Along with this, the BNL Karting Series is well-known for its friendly and helpful atmosphere, which ensures that competing in this series is an experience that many will not forget. They also have an ever-increasing social media presence, along with continued live streaming for every single race, courtesy of Camp Company GmbH.
Even though drivers have moved on from this series to higher levels within racing, it also helps to provide a stable racing platform via the Rotax engine use, which allows newcomers to learn race craft, understand how to progress and get faster and more confident.

The format of each race weekend sees each driver take part in a five-minute qualifying session on both race days, along with a Pre-Final and a Final, with the weekend winner being decided on the combined results of both

days. Along with a tried and tested formula that has really given plenty of track time to all competitors, a new change has happened, as Dave Ritzen has now departed the role as Karting Genk Track Manager after a five-year tenure in the role. His successor, Esmée Rosman, now will be at the helm to help continue the lineage and success of the BNL Karting Series for 2022 and beyond.

The future looks bright for the BNL in 2022, and long may it continue!

WE CATCH UP WITH... ESMÉE ROSMAN
Esmée is a new face that is joining the team at the BNL Karting Series as the official organizer, having taken over from Dave Ritzen, who did a fantastic job in the role over the past five years.

Moving up from the role as Event Manager at Karting Genk as of the beginning of this year, she will be heavily immersed in the operations and day-to-day running of the championship, which now heads into its 15th year of competition. Esmée also has raced before, so she also has a welcome insight into how to make sure that all aspects are catered for, no matter how small or big the challenge may be. We caught up with her just a couple of weeks after her new appointment.

WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST THOUGHTS OF NOW BEING IN A VERY PRESTIGIOUS ROLE AT Karting Genk?
The first thing that comes to mind is that I am beyond excited to start my new role as track manager at Karting Genk and organizer/promotor of the BMC and BNL Karting Series. This is an absolute dream come true. I’ve been part of the Karting Genk team for almost two years now, and as Event Manager, I have overseen the rental karting events we organize.
This gives me the necessary experience with organizing corporate events, as well as our rental kart races such as the 6 Hours and 10 Hours endurance races. This already was a prestigious role, which I really enjoyed. When Dave announced that he chose to leave our team, I did not hesitate for a second and knew this was the next logical step in my career. It won’t be easy to fill his shoes, but I’m confident that I am the right person to do it.

HOW EXCITED ARE YOU AHEAD OF THE 15TH SEASON OF THE BNL KARTING SERIES,
ESPECIALLY AS THE CUSTOMARY KICK OFF IS TWO MONTHS AWAY?

I am very happy to be part of the Rotax family and I cannot wait till we can start the season off with a blast around the beautiful track of Karting Genk!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE BNL KARTING SERIES, APART FROM THE FANTASTIC CLOSE RACING?”
I am looking forward to working together with all the amazing teams, drivers, mechanics, staff members and everybody else who is involved in the BNL Karting Series. Just like them, I got infected with the “karting-virus” when I was just a child, and it is an absolute joy that this passion brings us all together.
