Unstable weather conditioned the progress of the heats throughout the day on Saturday. It is hoped that for Sunday's final stage the weather will guarantee a good continuation of the event, because the ingredients for an uncertain final even on a dry track are all there (Fotocar13)

The one-race World Championship does not allow one to predict a foregone conclusion. And this one, which is taking place in Portimào, hides many pitfalls, on a very smooth track where in order to overtake and come out unscathed you have to be good and also lucky... episodes and details make the difference. And from what we have seen in the dry heats a driver with more to go has not been seen.
After the heats run on a wet track and with rain tyres in the morning and slicks in the afternoon, there were some confirmations and some surprises up front. We will therefore have to wait for Sunday's pre-finals (weather permitting... fingers crossed, knock on wood and so on) to understand who will be the favourites to win the coveted title.
In KZ, the twist that surprised everyone came in the very last heat with the retirement of Senna Van Walstijn due to a mechanical failure. The Sodi/TM Kart holder was forced to retire while leading the race on a dry track.A retirement that also cost the unfortunate Dutchman pole position in the Super Heats. First position taken by the winner of the heat Pedro Hiltbrand. The Spaniard (Birel Art/TM Kart), among the fastest drivers this weekend, thus returns to occupy the front row of an FIA Karting titled competition, even though it is the Pre-final.The antagonist on duty is Jeremy Iglesias (CRG/TM Kart). Both will however have to contend with Van Walstijn who will start from the second row together with team-mate Giuseppe Palomba.Trefilov (Maranello/TM Kart) and Renaudin (DR/Modena Engines) will start from the third row.
Also full of expectations is the final phase of KZ2, which sees in the first positions a platoon of drivers with what it takes to excel. Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/TM Kart) Daniel Vasile (Birel Art/TM Kart), Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM Kart), Matheus Morgatto, Artem Severiukhin (Birel Art/TM Kart), Genis Civico (Tony Kart/Vortex), are the first on the list and 90% from this group will emerge the winner.
In the KZ2 Masters Antony Abbasse and Daniel Bray earned pole position in their respective pre-finals on Sunday. They were followed by Nicastro and Habulin, Foré, and Cossard. Manetti, who retired due to mechanical problems, placed seventh in the summary of the heats, third row in one of the pre-finals
