World Champion Freddie Slater is ready for an encore in 2021.
The World Championship in Portugal put the magnifying glass on the great driving skills in the rain of British riders, primarily Freddie Slater. The Briton left everyone speechless a few months ago when, after a great progression between qualifying and heats, he managed to keep up with everyone with an unsustainable and practically impeccable race pace for the entire duration of the race.
One mistake or slip-up could have wiped out Slater's hopes of victory, but he was able to keep everything under control, especially in the melee with Arvid Lindblad in the latter part of the race. For 2021 Slater will of course start as favourite but with the same goals and intentions, winking at the highly anticipated new layout at Sarno.
- It's been a few months since you became World Champion! How did you spend your winter holidays? Did you have a chance to celebrate?
«I spent my winter break in Dubai, it was nice to relax and reflect on the World Championship. We managed to celebrate a lot, especially on New Year's Eve with my family».
- What is your goal for 2021 and which races are you looking forward to the most?
«My goal is to win everything and learn more as the season goes on. I'm looking forward to participating again in the World Championship and the European Championship. I'm also looking forward to the new layout at Sarno!»
- What do you want to improve on for the new season?
«I will definitely work to improve, be more consistent and keep my title, the aim is to become a more complete driver».
