Team USA to have an additional entry to the Grand Finals to come from the MAX Masters class at the Rotax U.S. Nationals
The MAXSpeed Group, BRP-Powertrain’s 2011 Worldwide Distributor of the Year, is extremely pleased to announce that we have secured an additional invitation to this year’s Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portimao, Portugal.

This invitation will be awarded to whoever wins the MAX Masters class at this year’s Rotax MAX U.S. Nationals at Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, IN, August 7-11. The recipient of this invitation must be over the age of 32 (during the 2012 calendar year) and will compete in Portugal in the DD2 Masters class.

“This is fantastic news for the U.S. Rotax MAX community. We are working very hard to build Team USA into a major contender at the Grand Finals, and this is another step towards that goal,” said US Rotax MAX Challenge Director Garry Lobaugh.

With the additional entry, the total number of drivers that will qualify for the Grand Finals through the U.S. Nationals is now 13. With the four drivers that have already qualified through the Florida Winter Tour and The Challenge of the Americas, this year’s Team USA will have a minimum of 17 drivers. With more invitations left to be won this  September at the Pan-American Challenge at The Track at Centennial, there’s a good possibility Team USA could be back to 20 members.

As many “Rotaxians” know, winning one of the coveted Grand Finals invitations is a major milestone in anyone’s karting career. But, this year, the achievement could lead one special competitor to a major payday. For 2012, the MAXSpeed Group has set up a $10,000 Reward for the first Team USA driver to win the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. We’ve come close in the past, could this be the year we see an American on the top step of the podium?
