K-Icon: the HRX karting boots

Columns: Zoom
HRX's R&D team has translated the track experience into design guidelines, speaking with drivers and testing each product directly on the circuit.

The K-Icon karting boots, that will be soon available, were designed with an eye toward a future where - the moment is imminent - karting will also have a FIA homologation reference for footwear, in a world of technical apparel increasingly aligned with uniform standards of quality and safety, much like what we are accustomed to seeing with helmets, racesuits, and chest and rib protectors that are now mandatory. "Form and functionality were our first two objectives to reconcile; not only is the shape slimmer and snugger to the foot, but the lowered heel position is more functional for driving," explain the designers from the Turin-based brand. "The sole is thin, and the enveloping heel, coupled with an adjustable strap, ensures maximum performance and provides protection in strategic areas. For breathability, we've exclusively chosen high-quality leathers Made in Italy, which, thanks to the perforations, allow for greater airflow exchange with the outside." Obviously, the K-Icon shoe will also be customizable like the entire HRX product line, with its own colors, name, and graphics.
