Oleksandr Bondarev joins Williams Racing Driver Academy

- From Kart to F1
Oleksandr 'Sasha' Bondarev, to whom Vroom dedicated an exclusive interview in the latest issue of the Magazine, joins the Williams Racing Driver Academy. He is the first Ukrainian driver in history to enter the F1 orbit. (fm)

The name of Oleksandr Bondarev is starting to be one of the most popular in FIA karting: although very young (born inApril 2009) the Ukrainian driver has experience behind him that could have drastically interrupted his career in karting and which instead doubled it the motivation. Victim of a frightening accident in Zuera during a European Championship race in 2022, Bondarev returned to karting in just 5 months, when he still wasn't walking perfectly and he immediately did so at a good level. In the first part of 2023 he imposed himself in a peremptory manner in the OKJ European Championship, managing to control his Belgian rival Thibaut Ramaekers with great coolness, in the difficult and torrid last round in Cremona. As a fresh member of the Williams Racing Driver Academy, the Franciacorta World Championship awaits him in the Prema livery and, as soon as the age limits allow, the ritual transition to single-seaters in 2024.
