The closing curtain falls on the 2018 edition of the Winter Cup. Lonato greets the competition and prepares for the season's next races. In Junior, Paul Aron takes home the laurel at the end of an absolutely thrilling weekend.
Many twists and turns throughout the weekend at South Garda Karting, thanks also to the difficult conditions, including rain on Sunday. At the end of the last two qualifying heats, Gabriele Minì (Parolin / Iame) dominated the ranking thanks to two victories, a third and a fourth place. Excellent run by Luca Griggs (Exprit / Vortex) and Francesco Pizzi (BirelArt / TM). Same protagonists in the pre-finals, fundamental for the purpose of the finals. Following the sum of the points obtained between heats and super heats, the first row was occupied by: Luca Griggs and Gabriele Minì, the weekend's real protagonists. Third and fourth positions to Francesco Pizzi and Paul Aron, and virtual top five ending with Gabriel Bortoleto, winner of the first super heat. Final: Difficult conditions and nothing left for granted in the final act of the Junior class for both for the great show and the surprising twists, thanks to track conditions. After Bortoleto's immediate exit from the stage, after a 360 °, the battle for victory proceeded. Lightning-fast was the ace of Lennox Lamb Racing, Luca Griggs, able to manage the race up to the checkered flag, only to be penalized at the end of the race. A second inflicted on the Italian precipitated him from first to third place. Smiling was certainly Paul Aron (FA / Vortex), who thus won the event. A noteworthy race, indeed, run by the Estonian who brings home a good weekend, useful to starting the season in the best possible way. Silver medal was awarded to Sami Meguetounif (Formula K / TM), the surprise of the weekend. At the bottom of the podium: Georgi Dimitrov (Exprit / Vortex) author of eight passes; a fifth place and first of the first Birel Art with Francesco Pizzi (BirelArt / TM), protagonist of the entire weekend. Sixth was Kai Askey (FA / Vortex), seventh Kiril Small (Tony Kart / Vortex), eighth Laurens Van Hoepen (Tony Kart / Vortex). The top ten concluded with Taylor Barnard (KR / Parilla) and Gutierrez Gomez (FA / Iame). HERE the complete results.
