On proposal of the World Motor Sport Council the General Assembly of the FIA has designated the President and the Members of the CIK for the year to come.
Mr Nicolas Deschaux (F) has been appointed President of the CIK and the following countries will be represented within the Commission: Argentina, Bahrein, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States of America.
Sporting Regulations
Further to the creation of a new CIK-FIA World Karting Championship for 15 to 18 years old Drivers and of a CIK-FIA Karting Academy for 13 to 15 years old Drivers, it has been decided that the first season will comprise three events, to be held in Europe on the following dates: 25 July, 29 August and 3 October 2010.
Each event will be organised over three days. Friday will be dedicated to the sporting and technical checks, the education programme and the first non-qualifying practice. Saturday will comprise further non-qualifying practice, qualifying practice and the first qualifying heats. And the warm-ups, the last qualifying heats and the final phase will take place on Sunday.
For the World Championship for Drivers under 18, a new final phase format will be implemented, with two prefinals (one with a reversed grid) the combined results of which will determine the starting grid of the final.
A CIK-FIA World Champion of Makes title will be awarded to the chassis make used by the Driver winner of the World Championship.
The single-engine which will be used in this World Championship when it is desigated further to a tender procedure for a 3-year period will be in KF4 technical configuration, with the following specifications: KF2 ignition box (max rev: 15,000 rpm), removal of the power-valve, adoption of an additional exhaust silencer and feeding with «ecological» fuel of the E10 type.
This engine can also be adopted by ASNs wishing to use it within the framework of a national category with a promotional character.
All the homologated chassis makes can enter the World Championship on condition that they supply strictly identical chassis (homologated models, without front brakes and with limited optional accessories; sets of chassis and accessories marked by the CIK-FIA before the opening of the Championship). The choice of chassis among the entered makes will be left up to Drivers, and the chassis will be allocated by drawing lots.
For the Academy, a single-kart (chassis-engine) will be designated further to a tender procedire for a 3-year period, in KF3 technical configuration, with the following technical specifications: feeding by means of a float-chamber carburettor and with «ecological» fuel of the E10 type. The number of karts will be limited to 34 in 2010, then to 51 in 2011 and 2012.
The eligibility criteria for the CIK-FIA World Cups have been considerably extended, allowing in particular the entry of the top 10 classified Drivers (instead of 5) of national Championships in the World Cups for KF2 and KF3 and the entry in the World Cup for KZ1 of Drivers classified in the first 33% of the Viking Trophy participants.
Technical Regulations
For safety reasons, it has been decided that Superkart chassis shall adopt «two-level» front, side and rear bumpers (with lower and upper bars), in place of the current single bars.
The validity of 125cc gearbox engines (KZ, former ICC) homologated on 1.1.2004 is extended to 31.12.2012.
Tenders
Total has won the tender to be the single supplier of fuel for the 2010 and 2011 CIK-FIA European Superkart Championships.
Dell’Orto has won the tender to be the single supplier of carburettors for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 CIK-FIA KZ1 and KZ2 Championships, Cups and Trophies.

DERNIÈRES DÉCISIONS DU CONSEIL MONDIAL DU SPORT AUTOMOBILE ET/OU DE L’ASSEMBLÉE GÉNÉRALE DE LA FIA CONCERNANT LE KARTING
À l’occasion des réunions des 21 et 23 octobre 2009 à Paris, le Conseil Mondial du Sport Automobile de la FIA et/ou l’Assemblée Générale de la FIA ont pris, entre autres, les décisions suivantes en matière de Karting :
Commission Internationale de Karting-FIA
Sur proposition du Conseil Mondial du Sport Automobile, l’Assemblée Générale de la FIA a désigné le Président et les Membres de la CIK pour l’année à venir.
M. Nicolas Deschaux (F) a été nommé Président de la CIK et les pays suivants seront représentés au sein de la Commission : Allemagne, Argentine, Bahrein, Belgique, Croatie, Danemark, Espagne, états-Unis d’Amérique, Finlande, France, Grande-Bretagne, Grèce, Hongrie, Italie, Japon, Mexique, Monaco, Norvège, Pays-Bas, Pologne, Portugal, République tchèque, Russie, Suède et Suisse.
Règlements Sportifs
Suite à la création d’un nouveau Championnat du Monde de Karting de la CIK-FIA pour les pilotes de 15 à 18 ans et d’une Académie de Karting CIK-FIA pour les Pilotes de 13 à 15 ans, il a été décidé que la première saison comportera trois épreuves, qui se disputeront en Europe aux dates suivantes : 25 juillet, 29 août et 3 octobre 2010.
Chaque épreuve se disputera sur trois journées. Le vendredi sera consacré aux vérifications sportives et techniques, au programme d’éducation et aux premiers essais non-qualificatifs. Le samedi comprendra d’autres essais non-qualificatifs, les essais qualificatifs et les premières manches qualificatives. Le dimanche auront lieu les warm-ups, les dernières manches qualificatives et la phase finale.
Pour le Championnat du Monde des moins de 18 ans, un nouveau format de phase finale sera mis en place, avec deux préfinales (l’une avec grille inversée) dont les résultats cumulés détermineront la grille de départ de la finale.
Un titre de Champion du Monde CIK-FIA des Marques sera décerné à la marque de châssis utilisée par le Pilote vainqueur du Championnat du Monde.
Le moteur unique qui sera utilisé dans ce Championnat du Monde après avoir été désigné par appel d’offres pour une durée de 3 ans, sera en configuration technique KF4, avec les spécifications suivantes : boîtier d’allumage KF2 (régime maxi : 15 000 t/min), retrait de la power-valve, adoption d’un silencieux d’échappement additionnel et alimentation par un carburant «écologique» de type E10. Ce moteur pourra également être adopté par les ASN désireuses de l’utiliser dans le cadre d’une catégorie nationale à caractère promotionnel.
Toutes les marques de châssis homologués pourront s’inscrire au Championnat du Monde à condition de fournir des châssis strictement identiques (modèles homologués, sans freins avant et avec limitation des accessoires optionnels ; lots de châssis et accessoires marqués par la CIK-FIA préalablement à l’ouverture du Championnat). Le choix du châssis sera laissé à l’appréciation des Pilotes parmi les marques inscrites et les châssis seront attribués par tirage au sort.
Pour l’Académie, un kart unique (châssis-moteur) sera désigné par appel d’offres pour une durée de 3 ans, en configuration technique KF3, avec les spécifications techniques suivantes: alimentation par un carburateur à cuve et par un carburant «écologique» de type E10. Le nombre de karts sera limité à 34 en 2010, puis à 51 en 2011 et 2012.
Les critères d’éligibilité pour les Coupes du Monde CIK-FIA ont été sensiblement élargis, permettant entre autres l’engagement des 10 premiers classés (au lieu des 5) de Championnats nationaux aux Coupes du Monde de KF2 et KF3 et l’engagement à la Coupe du Monde de KZ1 des Pilotes classés parmi les premiers 33% des participants au Viking Trophy.
Règlement Technique
Pour des raisons de sécurité, il a été décidé que les châssis de Superkarts devront adopter de pare-chocs frontaux, latéraux et arrière «à deux étages» (barre inférieure et barre supérieure), en remplacement des actuelles barres uniques.
Les moteurs 125cc à boîte de vitesses (KZ, ex-ICC) homologués au 1.1.2004 voient leur homologation prolongée jusqu’au 31.12.2012.
Appels d’offres
Total a remporté l’appel d’offres pour être le fournisseur unique de carburant pour les Championnats d’Europe CIK-FIA de Superkart en 2010 et 2011.
Dell’Orto a remporté l’appel d’offres pour être le fournisseur unique de carburateurs pour les Championnats, Coupes et Trophées CIK-FIA de KZ1 et KZ2 en 2010, 2011 et 2012.
