Press Release by:

Race 2 of the Czech round of the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship, at Most, saw the win of German Peter Elkmann (MS Kart-DEA).

The former Formula 3 Euro Series race winner scored points for the first time this season, after he faced set-up problems with his new material at round 1 in Magny Cours earlier this year and again in Race 1 at Most. Actually, Elkmann was on his way to a second place behind France’s Emmanuel Vinualès (Anderson-DEA). In the lead from lap 3, the young Frenchman went wide and spun in the very last lap, falling down from position 1 to 5.

Earlier in the race, his main Championship opponent, Gavin Bennett (Anderson-DEA), also spun, when he tried to outbrake Elkmann at the end of the main straight line. Vinuales’ last minute mistake allowed Bennett to reach the podium, in 3rd place behind Germany’s Daniel Hentschel (Anderson-DEA).

Vinualès is still leading in the intermediate Championship classification, but sees now his lead on Bennett reduced to 4 points. The final round at Assen (NLD) on August 7 will thus be decisive.
