Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy 2024 starts the season in Genk

The 2024 Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy is set to kick off this weekend at Karting Genk ‘Home of Champions’, with an entry list of over 240 drivers from at least 40 countries.

The event spans four rounds and at the opening edition there are five Rotax categories: Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2, and DD2 Masters.

Free practice started on Wednesday, with the official race program beginning Friday, followed by the Qualifying sessions and first Heats. On Saturday the drivers will fight in the Heat races to gain their place into Sunday’s Pre-finals and Finals.

Following, some context about the five categories of the event: 

Mini MAX - Belgian Cup by Mini MAX

The 125 Mini MAX category, dubbed the Belgian Cup by Mini MAX, promises intense competition with 55 drivers competing for a spot in the RMCGF 2024 this October. Keep an eye on Albert Friend (Strawberry Racing), winner of the Winter Cup 2024, as he faces stiff competition from the likes of Oliver Spencer (Dan Holland Racing) and others.

Junior MAX - Ashcroft Aims to Extend Streak

Jacob Ashcroft (Dan Holland Racing), the reigning RMCET Mini MAX champion, aims to extend his winning streak in the Junior MAX category after clinching victory in the 2024 RMCET Winter Cup. He faces challenges from his own teammates and talented contenders like Lewis Goff and Cameron Nelson.

Senior MAX - Wide Open Competition

With 88 drivers in contention, the Senior MAX category promises intense battles on the 1360-meter track. British drivers like Kai Hunter and Lewis Gilbert will contend with Dutchman Jayden Thien, recently crowned RMCET Winter Cup champion, and local talents like Vic Stevens and Beau Lowette.

DD2 - Unpredictable Showdown

The DD2 category presents an unpredictable showdown with Patriks Locmelis and Ragnar Veerus leading the pack. However, contenders like William Kristensen and David Aulejtner are eager to challenge for victory.

DD2 Masters - Renewed Rivalry

Nicolas Picot and Martynas Tankevicius renew their rivalry in DD2 Masters, with Fabian Bock adding to the competition. The outcome remains uncertain in this fiercely contested category.
