Scott Marsh (GBR) RMCGF 2022, the winners of the last edition

- Stories
While waiting to get into the heart of the 2023 competition, let's relive, together with the protagonists, the outcome of the last edition, held in Portimao, as reported in Vroom Magazine.

Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals
KARTODRÓMO INTERNACIONAL ALGARVE, Portimao (Portugal), November 19th-26th 2022

Juniors always brings the rising stars into the mix at the top when it comes to the Grand Finals. This year was definitely no exception. Almost nothing separated these drivers in contention, where the UK, Belgium, Kuwait and Israel set the best pace in each group qualifying. In the final count, Scott Marsh was the only one to seal two heats and Pre-final A to start on pole Saturday. His 2022 credentials alone are impressive: British Open and Rotax Festival champion, runner-up at the RMCIT in Le Mans and 3rd in the RMC Euro Trophy. He was on the podium in Mini MAX at the RMCGF in Bahrain last season, so it was no surprise he was determined to be number 1. It was his closest rival, the European champ and Pre-final B winner, Ethan Jeff-Hall who would test him in the rundown to the flag. Kasper Schormans (NDL) won the podium race for the last step from Maxence Bouvier (FRA) and Vinnie Phillips (GBR), the pace-setter in Wednesday’s timed practice.

The week was amazing – one of the best experiences of my life and enjoyed every bit of it! The racing was tough, but luckily I managed to perform well and race consistently in the heats and the pre-final, giving me a great (but pretty pressured) pole position for the final. The final was tough to keep my position, but also the pace on track, so to say I’m happy with my victory is a definite understatement. I still can’t quite believe it. I’m only 12 years old so this win has definitely given me the confidence I need to keep pushing, keep trying, and keep making dreams come true
