Christopher Feghali (LBN) RMCGF 2022, the winners of the last edition

Columns: Stories
While waiting to get into the heart of the 2023 competition, let's relive, together with the protagonists, the outcome of the last edition, held in Portimao, as reported in Vroom Magazine.

Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals
KARTODRÓMO INTERNACIONAL ALGARVE, Portimao (Portugal), November 19th-26th 2022

MINI MAX

Christopher Feghali has already won the hearts of Lebanon as a young racing talent as their national champion plus twice winner of both the Middle East North African (MENA) Nations Cup and RMC International Trophy titles. He’s represented his country at the highest level in Rotax karting and in 2022 he was unstoppable to take the World #1 ranking. His dedication and ability shone through in the close battle against teammate Jacob Ashcroft (GBR), vice champion, with fair racing and respect. From qualifying through the heats and both finals, Christopher achieved what no Lebanese driver has in motorsport to this day. Team UK’s Harry Bartle and Sebastian Minns fought for the podium, and then Frenchmen Louis Baziret secured P5 from earlier pole-sitter Thomas Pradier.

WE HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR THIS, MY DAD AND I, FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS

It’s a great feeling to win the RMC Grand Finals in Mini MAX and to be ranked first in the world. It has always been a dream since I started karting at the age three. It’s a blessing for me, for my family and my whole country. It means a lot to win such a big title at such an early age. We have been working for this, my dad and I, for the past seven years and it definitely paid off. We’re now looking forward to big challengers in the next categories. The competition at the RMC Grand Finals was really tough; especially when you have 72 of the best Mini MAX drivers from all around the world. We managed to get pole position in the qualifying in the rain and won all the heats, even with the great competition from my teammates Jacob Ashcroft and Harry Bartle. Although I dropped back in the third heat to P6, I was still able to take the win. In the final, it was hard to concentrate for 14 laps with the pressure from behind, yet we grabbed the victory. It’s crazy how people are still reposting our stories and posts on social media and sharing the news on TV after winning this big title for our country Lebanon. The RMCGF definitely has a different taste to any other event all over the world because we have the best karting drivers in their class competing for the top spot with identical karts and engines – which makes it easier to see the drivers with pure talent. Being there and representing Lebanon is always a wonderful feeling, especially achieving the #1 spot and raising our flag high.
