Bulgaria awards Rotax champions as Stefan Stefanovski wins the ticket for Bahrain

- Races
"The sixth event of the Bulgarian Rotax MAX Challenge took place last weekend in the beautiful mountain town of Kyustendil. A total of 40 drivers in four categories from Micro MAX to Senior MAX participated in the last race meeting of the season.

In the Micro MAX category, Max Daniel Kostov became the champion for the second year. Unfortunately for him, he fell short of a record six race wins, but still secured the title. Nikola Rangelov, who won first place in both Finals of the competition at the closing round, finished only in second in the annual standings primarily due to bad luck throughout the season. Milen Bahchevanov ended the series in third position. The driver from the Racing line team Konstantinos Nikolaou also performed very well, but bad luck deprived him of the chance for third place.

In Mini MAX the victory was secured by Stefan Stefanovski, who took the ticket for the RMCGF 2023 in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well. Kristian Zinkov, the champion in Micro MAX last year, finished behind him showing his speed and potential. Dean Damianov had a close battle with Kaloyan Balabanov for the third place in the race. In the end, the ranking for the season are Stefanovski, Damianov and Balabanov. The little hero Sotiris Doumanis also made his first attempt in this class.

The Junior MAX category was more than dramatic. In Final 1, Petar Shingov took the win, but Final 2 was not so good for him and he finished in third place, however, he is the championship winner. Boris Mihaylov had a good result in Final 2, yet it was Ilian Yankov who was just brilliant. An accident was the cause of the kart's technical failure and after the flag was shown, he lost a lot of time to fix it, but still managed to get back on track and complete the stage. Radoslav Vodenicharov also performed well, showing good skills not only as a driver, but together with his father, who is his trusted mechanic, built the right strategy that allowed them to take second overall in the annual ranking for the season after Shingov. The top three were Shingov, Vodenicharov and Mihaylov for the 2023 Junior MAX podium.

In the Senior MAX class the deciding competition was between Kaloian Genov and Samuil Ivanov. Genov won both finals on Sunday, but still it was not enough to win the championship, so he had to settle for second place as vice champion. The podium was Ivanov, Genov and Viktor Varbanov.

With the deciding round and the celebrations at the prize-giving ceremony completed, the 2023 race season is now over for the RMC Bulgaria. Congratulations to the winners and to all the competitors who participated this year in the championship. Now it’s on to Bahrain where Stefan Stefanovski will represent Team Bulgaria against some of the best Mini MAX drivers in the world this December 2-9.
