The Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy is one of the most important events of the year in the Rotax world: in the epic setting of Le Mans, it is a special race in the calendar – and for many drivers it can be 'once in a lifetime race'. (fm)
Kart-Shop Italia, importer of Rotax engines for Italy, has created a service dedicated to all those drivers who are already competing in the Trophy and who wish, on a special occasion, to show up at the start without too many thoughts.
«We know the amateur dimension of the Rotax world, made up mostly of drivers who arrive on the track with little means other than karts, and it's fantastic that we can still experience our sport in this way. However - explains Nico Carigiet, the creator of the project - there are some events of the International Trophy which, due to the commitment even if only to travel that they involve, it is appropriate to face with "someone watching over you". In the national race you can go with just one engine, that's right: first because these engines don't break, secondly also because even if there were a technical problem with the engine, the friend in the van next to yours can lend you his and give you a hand in a very informal way. The Le Mans event, on the other hand, even if only for an organizational matter, is a little more complex: we thought that our customers might like to get to the track and feel their shoulders a little more covered: facing a long trip involves a big effort for a father-son team and finding someone on the track to supervise the race weekend in a professional way is what some may need.»
Basically, is that like having a team behind you? « Actually - continues Carigiet - our project was born precisely to avoid speculation and the escalation of costs, which in the Rotax universe we have always tried to contain. Relying on a team is a choice that we don't judge, of course. But in our case the support is not that of the team, but of an external engine manager: so that the driver can only worry about driving and setting up the chassis to be as competitive as possible even in a race which, due to the large number of members and due to its international caliber, it is presented as a much more selective stage than a national competition.»For more information on the service: https://www.kartshopitalia.it/
