The recent race in Novi Marof, Croatia on May 20-21 counts towards the CEZ, SSC Sportstil, RMC Austria and CRO Championship.
In total, 124 competitors attended the event from a list of different nations that include Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary, Italy and Greece. The long-running series remains a popular championship throughout the region, with some excellent competition that sees almost ten nations regularly joining the rounds in the Central Eastern Zone.
This season, the CEZ championship is noticeably going better than last year; with even more drivers and the inclusion of one track more (Novi Marof). It was a good place to host the event for the many participants and their supporters, quite spacious with a big restaurant serving homemade food.
TRACK: ST Rauš Novi Marof Length: 1,300 meters Width: 8 - 12 meters. Direction: Anti-clockwise
The weather on the practice day Thursday was literally awful! With puddles all over the track and the training was impossible because the circuit was actually flooded. Full credit has to be given to the track owner who did a commendable job removing the water overnight and preparing it all for the competition. Thankfully, the race event itself was held in dry conditions, sunny and hot.
The Senior MAX class had 37 entries, which mean the field was split into groups for the racing. At this event, the engines in all classes, apart from the Rotax DD2 & DD2 Masters, are allocated by a lottery system. The competent technical review team combined scrutineers from Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Portugal to support the organisation. Overall, the event was another great weekend.
The next race of the combined CEZ and SSC Championship is scheduled for Ptuj, Slovenia June 3-4.
