RMC EURO TROPHY – BACK STRONGER FOR SEASON SIX

- Races
Press Release by:
Gunskirchen, Austria, February 24, 2023 – The new season has already had a taste of what is in store for the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy in 2023, following the success of the recent RMCET Winter Cup held in Spain, as the championship prepares to begin its sixth year of international competition.

The much-anticipated start to the series has been confirmed by the growing interest from both regular and new competitors who have already signed-up since entries opened in late February. With incredibly close racing as a result of the quality, reliability and parity provided by the Rotax 125 MAX Evo engines and regulation MOJO tyres, the RMCET continues to gain a good reputation for further developing young talent in the world of karting today. There is a full program from Friday to Sunday with practice, qualifying, minimum three heats, second chance race, pre-final and final for all the combustion classes. Open practice is also possible during the week leading up the events.

A total of four rounds will visit some of the most challenging and popular circuits in three different countries, while introducing another new venue as host for the series finale. Belgium is the first port of call, as Karting Genk ‘Home of Champions’ opens the show in mid-April, having also ended the RMCET season with the Golden Trophy in 2022. The second edition returns to the track that made its series debut last year, Val d’Argenton, situated along the west coast of France. This will be the last weekend of May then after a break of six weeks, the RMCET heads back up to Belgium to the famous and very technical Karting Des Fagnes circuit at Mariembourg at the beginning of July. It will be two months later that the Paul Fletcher International kart circuit in Brandon, Lincolnshire, sees the fourth and final round to crown all the class champions on UK soil. It’s shaping up to be a big season!

Five Rotax 125 MAX classes will be contested across the series, four of which will be included in all rounds: Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters. These RMCET 2023 titles will be decided by a new points system based on the sum of the best 10 results (Ranking after Heats, Pre-final and Final) of the total 12 results. The Rotax Mini MAX category for drivers aged 9-12 years will be run over three events: Genk, Mariembourg and PFI. Once again, the winners of Genk and Mariembourg will also receive their entry ticket to Le Mans this summer holidays for the RMC International Trophy in the Mini MAX category. There are 12 RMCGF tickets making up the fantastic prizes on offer for the top drivers this year.

This year will see the inclusion of a new E-Kart class in the Rotax Project E20 Senior division with the welcome addition of the E20 Senior Masters for drivers from 32 years. The attraction to the new E-Technology for sheer ease of use and simplicity of the electric powertrain as an ‘Arrive & Drive’ concept is gaining momentum. The Project E20 race package uses the Sodikart DD2 chassis with front brakes and reverse, making it an optimum choice for many Masters looking for enjoyable competition without the complicated aspects of engine maintenance, shifting and noise. It is likely many of these drivers are already familiar with electric auto options.

+   Both the E20 Senior and E20 Masters champions will be awarded RMC Grand Finals 2023 tickets to represent their national team in Bahrain. The Rotax Project E20 Junior class is scheduled as well for its second season alongside the E20 Senior grids. The champion will take home another cool prize TBA, so check the official Rotax website for more details. All three E-Kart category winners at both the championship rounds, Karting Genk (BEL) and PFI (UK), will receive another ‘arrive & drive’ entry ticket to compete again on the Rotax Project E20 Tour during the year.

“We love great competition at Rotax and know how important it is for all our drivers to have such a strong international event in Europe like the RMC Euro Trophy,” says Peter Oelsinger, General Manager BRP-Rotax / Member of the Management Board, Vice President Sales, Marketing RPS-Business & Communications. “It remains a vital part of the Rotax MAX Challenge concept to ensure we offer our big Rotax family the opportunity to aspire and progress to a higher level, as they dream to become champions in Motorsport. History shows that the RMCET competitors are always found amongst the leading drivers at the RMC Grand Finals every year. The results speak for themselves.”
