The coming Sunday, October 3, the French circuit in Val d'Argenton will play host to the final round of the World Championship for drivers under the age of 18. Together with the U18 World Championship, 33 drivers aged between 13 and 15 will take part in the Academy Trophy.
The series, which debuted this year, will see 71 drivers at the start competing for the title, all equipped with same engine and same tires. Ten drivers are still in contention for the title. Among them Italian lady driver Chiara Poletto. Jake Dennis from England and Finnish Teemu Suninen are two other candidates, level on points, also joined by Ireland’s Adam Stirling, 4 points behind.
Together with the U18 World Championship, 33 drivers aged between 13 and 15 will take part in the Karting Academy. They will be equipped with the same material, Parolin-FMI, which has won the tender of the International Federation with the Dunlop tires. Overall, the Italian contingent will be represented by 15 drivers in the Under18 - including two lady drivers, Chiara Poletto and our test driver Laura Chizzoni – and by Alessio Profeta in the Academy Trophy, seen that the regulation limits the participation of only one driver per nation.
The event will also award the Manufacturer Championship title to the chassis of the final winner (five brands are in contention for the title).
The event will be broadcasted by Eurosport 2 on Thursday 14 October.
