The racing heats up with the mercury at the RMCIT

The second day of racing in Le Mans was filled with an action-packed schedule of 28 qualifying heats at the 2022 edition of the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy and the competition was fierce for positions and points.

It was nothing less than an exciting day’s racing for the 245-strong field that
came to the International Karting Circuit of Le Mans knowing it was going to be a tough weekend.
To top off Friday’s sessions to decide who would start where in Saturday’s Finals, the colourful line-up for the driver presentation,
complete with national flags of almost 40 nations represented, was the reminder of how global the Rotax racing community is.
The RMCIT organisation then welcomed all the competitors and fans to join in an afternoon of music and refreshments to chill after a big day.
At the end of the heat racing, the rankings saw all but one of the original pole-sitters still leading their class
or the prime position when the Finals hit the grid Saturday.
The rivalry is amazingly close though, with nothing separating the front-runners – so the last day is shaping up to be a sizzler!
In Micro MAX, Léni Robillot Lagache (FRA) had a consistent result to stay at the front. Four drivers
secured their top spot by taking victory in all their qualifying heats: Toms Strele in Mini MAX (LAT),
Christopher Feghali in Junior MAX (LBN) and Vivien Cussac Picot (FRA) in DD2 Masters. The World #3
Junior from Bahrain RMCGF 2021 Kai Rillaerts (BEL) was impressive, winning four from four races in
Senior MAX. Poleman Antoine Barbaroux (FRA) won two heats to maintain his first place in the DD2.
Saturday’s Final A for the six Rotax categories begins at 2.20pm (CEST) at 3MK Events on YouTube or
RMC International Trophy on Facebook. The prize-giving will see 4 RMC Grand Finals tickets, two DS
90 Quads, Rotax MAX evo Engines and €1000 vouchers awarded on the podium. Plus there’s the
raffle for all competitors for the cool BRP-Rotax Can Am Ryker and three Bell Racing Helmets.
