After a winning season debut in Bahrain and the second place in Saudi Arabia, the Monegasque driver (extremely fast in karting, too) also dominates Sunday’s Australian GP, and is sure to be a key player this Formula 1 season.
You readers certainly know that Leclerc launched his own line of chassis in 2019, namely Charles Leclerc Kart by Lennox Racing, in collaboration with Birel Art. Leclerc’s gentle but determined character could not but bring him back to the world of karting, a world that has given him so much. The decision to team up with a winning brand like Birel Art also matured with the hope of developing new talents through the use of his name, now linked in a winning way to Formula 1. In karting, Leclerc won a KF3 World Cup in Sarno and the Academy Trophy, both in 2011, as well as various other races such as the Lonato Winter Cup in KZ.
“The karting years were fantastic for the fun, but most importantly for learning the basic fundamentals for my automotive future. In karting, you have to be prepared to endure many sessions during the weekend and you always have to give your best in each of them: this is certainly the skill that comes in handy the most when you get to Formula 1.”
