W Series prepares for season opener after testing sessions

- From Kart to F1
A new chapter of the W Series is about to begin, the 20 drivers have already started their season in Barcelona with the days dedicated to collective testing.

A taste of the new season has already been given by the large W Series team, present at the Montmelò circuit in Barcelona for official testing before the official start in Miami (6-8 May 2022).

Since its first ever season, the W Series has faced changes, novelties and above all a lot of growth in terms of visibility and communication. With its third season on track, the all-female Championship promises spectacle, new names to be launched in the motorsport universe and media presence given by sponsors and the increasingly close ties to F1. An exponential growth that in our first interviews with drivers and organisations had already transpired during the first year, promises absolutely confirmed.

A few days ago, the new and confirmed protagonists met in Spain, especially to regain confidence with the circuit and the Tatuus T-318 car. Twenty girls were present divided into two groups of ten, among them also the two times champion Jamie Chadwick who, also this year, will be on track to defend the double crown obtained in the previous seasons.

Official test days added to the previous selection in America, from which emerged the new debuts among which many old karting acquaintances. Fruitful days for all of them, eager to get back on track. Despite the presence of real teams (already since last year), the format of the W Series will remain such as to put everyone on equal terms to be able to aspire to victory.

In the new calendar, in addition to four races in Europe and three in the States, the series will also land in Asia by taking part in the Japanese GP weekend at Suzuka.

In addition to the track, it is worth remembering that the W Series has always acted as a trailblazer for the development of women's motorsport. In this regard, an event was also held in Barcelona, 'W Series x Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya: Changing the Face of Sport' which brought together organisations and individuals committed to the promotion of women in sport, business and culture. Speakers included Catherine Bond Muir (Chief Executive Officer, W Series), Neus Santamaria (Race Director, Euroformula Open), Maura Everett (Senior Brand Strategist, Women's Performance, Puma) and drivers Naomi Schiff and Berta Abellan.

New drivers for the season include many former karters such as Tereza Babickova or Swiss multiple champion and F.Regional driver, Lena Buhler.
