Anatoly Khavalkin gets first podium of the season at Winter Series in Franciacorta

High-level weekend for Parolin driver Anatoly Khavalkin. Third place at the end of the OKJ final after leading the category right up to the chequered flag.

The Winter Series of Franciacorta smiled on the Russian driver, who was constantly competitive, a good sign and good data collected in view of the European Championship and of the race that will take place at Franciacorta this summer. 

Khavalkin immediately showed great feeling with the circuit, managing to set his pace right from qualifying, which ended with the overall pole position in 48.324. 

Starting in first position, the Parolin driver, has managed very well all the starts of the three heats available. Anatoly's path was clear, winning in all the heats and therefore author again of the pole position for the SuperHeat on Sunday morning. 

In the event prior to the final, Khavalkin fought hard in first position, battling intelligently, knowing that he could count on Saturday's result. With the second place, in fact, the Russian kept in all cases the pole position for the OKJ Final of Franciacorta. 

Khavalkin faced 19 laps of fire and was able to keep the first position, despite two attacks by his rivals, until lap number sixteen. Just two laps from the end, in fact, a race contact caused by an opponent took away Khavalkin's chances of victory, making him slip to fifth position. Under the chequered flag, Anatoly then moved up to fourth and finally third after the penalty given to his rival.

An excellent result in all cases, especially in view of the next races, starting with the one in La Conca in a few days time, the third round of the WSK Super Master Series.
