International Kart Expo relocates to Dortmund in 2022

- News and Previews
Renowned for being the biggest kart expo in the world, the International Kart Exhibition (IKA) will return once again in mid-January 2022 at a brand new location in Dortmund, Germany.

For the first time since the IKA began nearly 30 years ago, the event that has been a major attraction for both karting and motorsport enthusiasts alike, as a popular calendar highlight to kick-start the new season, is looking forward to opening their doors to visitors at the Messe Dortmund exhibition centre. The impressive and modern venue situated in the third-largest city in the North Rhine Westphalia region now enables the IKA to bring together all the exhibitors within one massive hall.

In previous years, the expo was held in Offenbach on the river Main, which borders the city of Frankfurt, where many of the leading kart manufacturers and businesses presented their latest products, while organisations, clubs and circuit operators promoted their current events and service. Ideally scheduled during the European winter, the expo has become a favourite place for friends to meet and check out the latest trends and innovations, where international karting importers search for new ideas, where deals are done, contracts are discussed, and industry managers can share opinions and discussions outside the office or during the pressure of a race program on track. The global media are also part of the daily seminars and press conferences to find out what’s new too.

The IKA organiser, Marcel Fuchsberger, is anticipating an exciting 2022 event that will provide their many exhibitors and visitors with an entirely new experience this January, “The new location in the Ruhr region opens up completely new possibilities for us. We now have a significantly larger area of over 10,000 square metres. The forced break due to the Corona has provided a perfect opportunity for a fresh start for the Kart Expo to come back next year more modern, bigger and more versatile. Messe Dortmund also convinced us with its bright and friendly ambience. At the same time, IKA can now move into one large hall for the first time. For visitors, shorter walking distance makes the trade fair experience more compact. And for exhibitors, the IKA becomes even more attractive.”

Along with the top brands and exhibits, up-to-date info and products relating to indoor and outdoor karting, a focus on both the racing sector and more recreational fun sector for hobby drivers, the topics of track planning and equipment are also going to be integrated into the Dortmund expo. Ideally located, it allows direct access from the motorway and rail networks, four international airports within 90km and more than 60 local hotels plus lots of restaurants, bars and cafes close by.
