J3 Competition Official Race Team has announced an added full-time technician for the coming season. Founded in 2004 by Jim and John Giacomelli and Justin Stefani, the company based in Erie, Pennsylvania (USA) was created with the intent of bringing young talented to becoming successful karters and competitors.
The team unveiled its colors for the first time at Stars of Karting opening round in 2005 taking several wins throughout the season, which ended with nominations of “Team of the Year” and “Tuner of the Year” by national press. 2006 began with more drivers in the Official Race Team - a total of twelve – and proved successful with the youngest core of drivers in the paddock. J3 scored several podium finishes, strengthening its ability to breed young talent and deliver results with their hard work and strong team ethics. During the past season, J3 traveled across the United States for the first time to take part in the Florida Winter Tour and Stars of Karting events, winning the FWT Cadet title as well as the Vice-Championship in ICA. Victories were plentiful in the WKA and National series as well. The team pushed young 15 year old Richard Benitez to the 9th ranked KZ driver in North America - after just one season of racing in the gearbox division.
J3 founding trio looks to 2008 and beyond. “We are working to capitalize not only on our distribution arena growth, but also on Official Race Team’s results. In 2008 we will close the gap in the manufacture’s ranking and bring J3’s Blue ‘K’ to the top of the standings,” the Giacomelli brothers said.
