In the Fia Karting 2022 calendar, an OK/OKJ European championship round is assigned to the Brescia track, which is also seen adding a race from the Champions of the Future series (M. Voltini - photo Citino Raffaele).
The Franciacorta Karting Track business is increasingly expanding and is also receiving well-deserved international recognition. Above all, we have the inclusion in the Fia Karting 2022 calendar of the last round of the OK and OK Junior European Championship, scheduled for the weekend of 10 July. A prestigious race that follows the assignment of the fourth round of the Champions of the Future series promoted by RGMMC, which precedes the official European tests a couple of weeks, so in this case the weekend of 26 June 2022.
After listening to the owners of the track, we received the following statement from Stefano Bonara: «The assignment of the two international tenders to just one year of opening the track, in a pandemic situation that is still alive, fills us with great pride. We are happy that the efforts made and that we are still making have been recognized not only nationally, but also internationally. We could not think that on the day of our first birthday we could receive a phone call directly from the office of the president of RGMMC, James Geidel, who announced that we had been chosen for the final round of the FIA Karting European Championship. This was a few minutes after the release of the FIA press release on the motorsport’s media. The euphoria was skyrocketing…».
Stefano mentions 2020: «When in October 2020 Mr. Geidel came here for the first time in our paddock and told us "Let's shake hands immediately and let's start working for 2021 because great successes can come out of this track", I would never have believed it could become reality so soon... What he saw in us immediately, I don't know, but for us to have him here was already an incredible goal. That day he told us he wanted to plan a stage of Champion of the Future for 2021…».
Bonara then returns to 2022: «After two days from the FIA World Council in which our confirmation at the European Championship is announced - he says - another announcement: the race date in the new project, also signed RGMMC, of the Euro Series Champions of the Future. Again the final race. If I think that only a year ago we were here with so much still to do… The pandemic had delayed us on all fronts, especially for infrastructures: now we are ready to take off in Europe, and it still doesn't seem true. In 2020 we hosted the Easykart-Rotax Brand Trophy race, then with the Rok Super Final: two fundamental stages for our indelible growth in our little history. Competitions that have consolidated us and with the support of great professionals in the sector always at our side. Little by little the efforts are turning into great satisfactions. The 2021 season is the real year of work, the one in which we are "still making our bones" and are maturing step by step».
And he concludes: "When ACI Sport (the italian ASN), a few months ago, asked us to apply for international competitions, we couldn't have hoped for so much already, but we believed in it with all our soul. The stakes were high: we immediately shared this opportunity with all our internal staff and with the Karting Referent Mrs Acerbi as well as with the Race Director Mr Schmidt. We accepted the challenge and we then thank ACI Sport for proposing us. Now we are here with all our collaborators and our staff, at the halfway point of the season with so many goals to reach, so many goals to cut and so much work to do».
