Vintage kart reunion another date change. Resheduled for: may 6 and 7, 2022

- Events
As previously announced the Vintage Kart Reunion which was originally scheduled for May 7 and 8 of 2021 at Prairie City Kart Track, Rancho Cordova, California, had to be rescheduled because of the COVID-19 situation

At that time it was felt important to have the meeting in 2021 to preserve the momentum that had been generated for the Reunion. To this end new dates were announced for September 17 and 18, 2021. It now turns out that selecting those dates was a mistake.

At the time of the rescheduling, the vintage karting calendar was still pretty sparse, at least on the US west coast, but as time wore on, the calendar filled up to the point where there were so many meetings within 2-3 weeks on either side of the September date selected for the Vintage Kart Reunion. As a consequence the Reunion organisers were hearing from folks who had planned to attend in May that they could not participate at the rescheduled September dates.

The whole idea of the Vintage Kart Reunion was to get a group of folks together, especially those mature karters that had not been seen in awhile and have a huge celebration and at the same time enjoy camaraderie remembering vintage karting friends who had passed.

The Reunion would also provide an opportunity to look back at the early days of both karting and vintage karting by having a comprehensive kart show, which would include memorabilia plus the inevitable bench racing.

The Reunion was primarily organised to provide a spotlight on the rear engine karts that were more prevalent at the inception of karting and at the start of the vintage karting hobby.

The programme for the Reunion planned for sufficient track time to permit relaxing fun flag to flag action as well as providing a swap meet to hopefully help folks get the pieces needed to finish projects.  It was also thought that the get together would perhaps entice fresh participation from folks who were visiting just to check everything out.

In order for all that to successfully happen it was essential that participation and attendance numbers would be high but as time wore on it became clearer that it was going to be much more difficult to promote a thriving event in September 2021.

As much as the organisers cringed about the decision to postpone the meeting they decided that the best opportunity at having the kind of meeting everyone wanted was to postpone and reschedule the Vintage Kart Reunion to Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, 2022, at the same venue, Prairie City Kart Track, Rancho Cordova, California.

The Vintage Kart Reunion website and the Facebook page will be updated in the next day or two, and will subsequently carry announcements from time to time throughout the summer regarding the raffle kart build as well as any other plans, as they happen, that are in store for the Reunion.

One of the good things that can now be mentioned is that by May 2022, lockdown should be over and camping at the track will be permitted.
