Press Release by:
The Polish driver of the Sauber Karting Team scored his first OKJ final at the FIA European Championship on the Essay circuit.

After a difficult and unfortunate start in Genk, Maciej got his redemption in the second round of his first FIA Karting season. After testing the French track of Essay, he did his best over the race weekend to be competitive right from the start and to store up important experience for the continuation of his season.

A "step by step" work started in an excellent way already from Friday's qualifying. Gladysz set the seventh fastest time overall and the second in Group A (best lap 48.111). Convincing start that finally allowed the driver to concentrate at best on the five heats available between Saturday and Sunday morning.

Five very demanding battles where the young representative of the Orlen Academy has made regularity his strong point. With a sixth place, two seventh placings and two third positions he put an end to his program by placing tenth overall on the starting grid of the OKJ final. It was a first qualifying for Gladysz, who was ready to fight in the 21 demanding laps of Essay.
After a good start, unfortunately the driver got stuck in the traffic that was created after the first carom and from that moment he had to climb up positions in a not easy way. Under the chequered flag, Maciek finally arrived in 23rd position, however very convincing given the great progress and growth throughout the weekend.

Maciej Gladysz: I would like to thank Sauber Karting Team, Kart Republic and Iame for perfectly prepared equipment and service, my mechanic Mario, coach Dan and all my sponsors and fans!
