On the day Germany gets racing back on track, with the DKM German Kart Championship leading the way for karting for the first time in this season, a young Red Bull-supported driver named Dennis Hauger secured pole position for Sunday’s main race at the opening round of the FIA F3 Championship alongside Formula 1 in Barcelona, Spain. Well-known for being a series that breeds race champions, the DKM boasts a long list of successful drivers who have come through the ranks at the highly-competitive event. In fact, it has been regarded as one of the outstanding national series’ in the OK and shifter kart level classes for some years now.
The Norwegian won the DJKM Junior OK title in 2016 and backed it up by taking the DKM Senior OK championship victory in 2017 racing with the official CRG team from Italy. This weekend the next stage of this ongoing success story continues as the career of another talented youngster builds momentum on the international motorsport scene.
Speaking about his qualifying result in Barcelona, he said “Good day and nice way to start the season with a P1 in quali. Happy with that and have to keep the focus going into the reversed grid race Saturday starting P12. Gonna be hard when its so close between us all, but I’ll play it smart for the next two races and get some good points hopefully.”
The Prema team driver added “Missing the karting days sometimes obviously. At the DKM I have good memories in both junior and senior in those two years and its a great championship at the same time. With some big European tracks and some more local ‘technical’ tracks in the series, which i really enjoyed during my time there, so had a lot of great memories with CRG and the German championship!”

Dennis Hauger is in exceptional company though, when you consider how many champions have advanced before him, and he’s only just beginning. However, there are numerous DKM series competitors racing in different categories, not only on the F3 grid.
