Bas Lammers leaves Sodikart but not racing

- News and Previews
The 36-year-old Dutchman has announced that he is no longer a Sodikart driver, an unexpected departure that does not, however, represent goodbye to racing.

After Anthony Abbasse's retirement, Sodikart also lost its second flag before yet another great season under the FIA Karting brand. Through his social profiles, Bas Lammers has in fact alerted his supporters to the sensational decision not to continue with the French team's project, the same one that had taken him to the podium of the KZ World Championship two years in a row.

Lammers' performances have never left any doubt after the sad parenthesis with Lion Kart, his level of competitiveness has always been of the highest calibre, adding to the list of trophies the recent victories of the 2017 and 2019 WSK Super Master Series, among others.

The decision, however, will not represent a farewell to racing as Lammers himself was keen to clarify in his press release via social media.

Bas Lammers: «I would like to thank every single person who works and is part of the Sodikart Racing Ream and the Sodikart factory for their work, their input, their support which has given me the best over the last 6 years. They have been very important in my career as a professional driver. We have achieved many great results together and they have helped me to develop myself as a driver but above all as a person. My collaboration with Sodikart has come to an end. The main reason for this decision is because my heart as a driver tells me that I still want to race every race. I want to follow my heart and do it!
I will work during this period on a new programme to find a good solution and race again!»

It remains to be seen whether Sodikart has proposed a role away from the wheel for Lammers, who is not yet ready to leave the race tracks. It is therefore likely that for the start of the FIA season we will see Bas Lammers back in the starting blocks, albeit with a different suit.
