Karting Genk, Belgium – Round 1, April 9, 2021 - Friday’s official qualifying practice has seen the welcomed start of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy 2021 at Karting Genk – ‘Home of Champions’ in Belgium. (J. Wade -photo FM IMAGES)
With an impressive entry list totalling 153 competitors from at least 22 different nationalities, the highly-anticipated event takes place under the restrictions enforced by the local government authorities and karting federation. Unfortunately, the younger Micro MAX and Mini MAX classes were not authorised to participate.
Eight official timed practice sessions of five minutes this afternoon has set the scene for what is now shaping-up to be an exciting weekend of competition. With a very competitive line-up and little separating the field of international participants, the qualifying took place under cloudy conditions; although the sunshine broke through at times with a temperature of around 15 °C and dry.
