Felipe Massa: "FIA Karting is more attentive than ever, let's keep up the enthusiasm for the new season".

- Paddock
2020 FIA season has been far from easy with a calendar to be almost totally redesigned and the COVID-19 situation to be managed in the best possible way.

After the forfeit of Le Mans (World KZ Championship) and the World Championship in Brazil, postponing to 2021, the FIA nevertheless went ahead with its plans without a hitch.

Felipe Massa: "In the end we only lost two European Championship races, one of the four dedicated to the OK and Junior categories and the annual Superkart event at Le Mans. All the other competitions have been rescheduled on different dates and sometimes on different circuits. The CIK-FIA staff in Geneva and the promoter RGMMC have worked hard to ensure that the season is maintained, but I would also like to thank the NSAs and the organisers who have done everything possible to achieve this result".

The former F1 driver underlines how the value of international racing, despite the difficulties, has remained very high on all fronts, resulting in a competitive season. There was also a great deal of attention on the COVID protocols for the insiders, the only ones who have access to the track in addition to the drivers and teams, all under scrutiny by the PCR tests, which according to Massa himself are fundamental.

"Personally, I make sure that the CIK-FIA is more attentive than ever to the karting community - continues the President - Drivers, teams and organisers will have to face the consequences of this pandemic and we must do all we can to help them in a difficult period. We have been able to announce the 2021 sporting calendar very early to set important benchmarks for the coming season. Obviously the smooth running of the FIA OK and Junior World Karting Championship in Brazil is particularly close to my heart for several reasons. We are aware that nothing is certain at the moment: we do not yet know how humanity will be able to cope with the virus in the long term. However, rays of hope are shining in different parts of the world, let's be alert, let's be ready to face new challenges, let's keep the enthusiasm!"
