The Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy put the word “end” on Tom Braeken’s 2020 racing season.

The Belgium born driver, despite the lack of experience in this track compared to his opponents, was always on top. The rain was an important factor along the entire weekend, but this even exalted Braeken’s driving skills.

He qualified as 5th in his group. Braeken was 9th in the overall Qualifying Practices classification. After a good series of heats, in which he also took a 3rd place, the Prefinal was the turning point of the race. Tom in fact won it after an incredible last lap fight; just a bumper penalty regraded him to P6.

The rain increased its insistence in the Final and it forced the marshals to wave the Red Flag. At that moment Braeken was 14th and in the middle of his comeback after a difficult start. Unfortunately, it counts the lap before the red flag and it means that he classified as 17th.

Tom Braeken, SP Motorsport: “I’m happy for the performance and this counts more than the results itself. I evaluate the progress along the year than the single result. That’s why I’m happy. I gave my best and the team too. Stan and the SP Motorsport crew never made a mistake but we cannot do anything against the rules especially when the rule protege our safety on track.”

Tom Braeken’s entourage is delighted to announce that he has been selected by  Team Belgium to represent his country in the 21st Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.
