Kai Sorensen has reached the absolute podium of his first Italian ACI Karting Championship after the last race in Castelletto di Branduzzo.
The American driver of the Parolin team honoured at best the last round of the prestigious and increasingly international Italian Championship. Kai completed a great season where, under the fog and rain of the 7 Laghi circuit, he had set the fifth best time in the Mini gr.3 category (best lap in 1.09.359).
The Stars and Stripes driver completely turned his weekend upside down with the splendid and very fast day on Saturday. Kai was able to triumph in the first and second heat, gaining the first position on the starting grid of race 1, trying the fight for the main title.
In Race 1, Sorensen completed his work managing to maintain a burning first position even under the chequered flag by winning the first race. With the great result obtained, Kai tried to recover also in the second race that would have been useful to win the Championship but unfortunately, a spin in the second corner compressed the race, later re-adjusted by Kai who recovered another 15 positions finishing seventh.
"I was hoping to win the Championship, we were always very fast all weekend and the victory proves it. I am happy with my third place in the overall standings and I would like to thank Parolin, my mechanic, MA Engines and all those who support us very much!".
