Kraft and Mesch winners in the first round of the DEKM.

The 2020 racing season of the DEKM has finally started in Kerpen. This had to be the season of the revolution for the brand new concept revealed in 2018.

A brand new kart - the E20 presented last year on the occasion of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals - was at the base of this season, then the Covid-19 appeared and this forced the Rotax to reorganize the series.

4 races, 3 tracks. After last week’s race, the series will move to Wackersdorf for 2 appointments, 4/6 September and 25/27 September, while the final round is programmed in Ampfing in the middle of October (16/18.10).

Sebastian Kraft won on Saturday after setting the best lap in the Qualifying Practices. In the Prefinal Sebastian was forced to leave the leadership to Axel la Flamme, but in the Final, he regained the lead and the victory.

On Sunday the “game” has changed. Joel Mesch took the pole position, in the Prefinal la Flamme had the pace to win, but a penalty pushed him back to P3. This consigned the victory to Mesch that won also the Final. An unlucky Sunday pushed Kraft out from top positions.

The DEKM season will continue this weekend in Wackersdorf.
