The WSK postpones the next three races to cope with the COVID19 emergency which has increased in the past few hours.
With the latest provisions of the Italian government, sports undergoes yet other important changes. With the new "red zones" in northern Italy (especially for the entire Lombardy region), here are the new changes as regards sports.
Though the ACI had disclosed its decisions regarding the DPCM, ensuring that yes, there would be races, but behind closed doors, officially stating the Super Master Series would be run, the WSK itself has put a halt to its calendar.
The Series makes the change of calendar for the following races official:
WSK Super Master Series round III – La Conca (Lecce)
WSK Super Master Series round IV – Sarno (Salerno)
WSK Euro Series round I – Sarno (Salerno)
The aforementioned races will be postponed with dates yet to be established.
"Following the recent decree law issued by the Italian Prime Minister, in force from 8 March 2020 to 3 April 2020, which introduces limitations to combat the spread of Coronavirus infection in some large areas of Northern Italy and throughout the national territory, WSK Promotion has decided to postpone the following scheduled events: in particular, the third round of the WSK Super Master Series in La Conca (Lecce), scheduled for 12-15 March 2020; the fourth round of the WSK Super Master Series in Sarno (Salerno) in March 18-22-20 2020; and the opening of the WSK Euro Series from 25 to 29 March 2020, also in Sarno.
Despite all the health and safety precautions already planned in accordance with the latest decrees, the WSK's decision was taken following the decisions of the Italian authorities and to safeguard the health of the drivers and all staff present at the WSK races, but also for due equity to all competitors as transport is currently more complicated.
As soon as the situation permits, we will communicate the new dates for the WSK Super Master Series and WSK Euro Series races."
The karting season therefore seems destined to change shape, recovering these three dates as soon as possible with an eye to the imminent FIA season scheduled for next month (Zuera - Spain).
Further updates coming soon.
