Further changes to allow more racing in the Euro Trophy for 2020 are now introduced, just over a month away from the first race weekend of the season at Belgium’s Karting Genk.
After a successful weekend at Circuito Karting Campillos for the Rotax MAX Challenge Winter Cup that saw 200 drivers from 29 different nations head to Andalusia, Euro Trophy organisers Camp Company GmbH have introduced a new race weekend format for this year
Implemented are a raft of changes to assist with the introduction of two new classes, thereby allowing more track time for the drivers at each race meeting.
Practice will not be available on Monday and Tuesday, with all drivers being able to practice from Wednesday morning onwards.
However, scanned tyres are a mandatory requirement from Thursday lunchtime onwards, with Timed Qualifying now taking place on Friday afternoon, instead of Saturday morning like the last two seasons.
The format of Timed Qualifying will also be changed, as a maximum of two groups will be run if the grid size for a particular class is anywhere between 36 and 72 drivers, with the fastest being put into Group A, with a combined qualifying result no long being used.
Regarding Qualifying heats, each class that has a maximum of 36 drivers at each weekend, all drivers will take part in the three qualifying heats on Saturday.
But if it exceeds that up to a maximum of 72 drivers, there will be four groups allocated, with each driver getting three races on Saturday.
Following the results of the Intermediate Classification on Saturday evening, the top 30 drivers will automatically qualify for the two finals, with only the top six that make it through in the Second Chance heat to also proceed.
There are now over 110 drivers registered for the season opener in Limburg, with full audio and video live stream coverage over the course of the weekend, which will start on April 10th.
