Anthony Abbasse announces retirement from racing, but not a final goodbye...

- News and Previews
With 2019 now on its last stretch, amid various news items, driver markets, and related, Anthony Abbasse's news, an announcement he made himself this morning, hits the headlines.

In fact, the French ace of Sodikart has announced his retirement from racing to dedicate himself to a new chapter in his professional life. Abbasse said that after 16 seasons with the French house, of which he is and shall always remain a great symbol, he shall (sort of) retire from driving karts to devote himself to his great dream of owning and managing a kart track. The circuit in question is the MECAMAX of Sables d'Olonne (France) in the Vendée region.

A dream come true, confirmed Abbasse, but that does not preclude a return to racing, "I will not hang up my helmet," said the Frenchman, leaving an opening for a few other races, maybe even with Sodikart and - why not – a run for an important title, like the next KZ World Championship in Le Mans.

Anthony Abbasse leaves the races, head held high, as an absolute protagonist of the premier class in recent years and with the merit of having brought the name of the French house to the top with the recent victory at the KZ European Championship in Wackersdorf this past season. With national titles, SKUS Supernats titles and podium finishes in the FIA European Championship and the FIA World Championship (the last, second place in 2017), he embarks on a new adventure, and the paddock sincerely wishes all the best and good luck to one of the greatest performers in the gearbox class and a farewell to the next races.

The following are Abbasse's statements.
“It is with great emotion that I address you to inform you of my change of career path. As you probably know, a page turns. After driving for many years at SODIKART as an official driver, I decided to change jobs. During these 16 years of collaboration with the Sodikart factory, I have forged special ties with many people - Sodikart will remain for me a big family. I can only thank them today for all that they have given me and what they have done for me during these long years of collaboration. All that we have been able to live together, victories and defeats will remain forever etched in my heart. I always tried to follow my dreams even if it was not always easy. I worked a lot and always gave myself 100% to make my life a dream, and a dream a reality.
I would also like to thank the people who believed in me and who helped me from near and far to achieve them. A good entourage is the key to success. Today, I want to realize another dream that I always had in mind: to own my own kart track. I am happy to announce today that this dream is becoming a reality. I made the choice to stop my career as a professional driver to be able to devote myself to the resumption of the Circuit MECAMAX (Karting and Quad) where I will have the pleasure of welcoming you, dear friends of karting. The track is located at Sables d'Olonne in the Vendée region, at the seaside. Rest assured, I am not hanging up my helmet permanently because I will still have the opportunity to come and have fun on a few races with pure passion. I also wanted, through this message, to thank my loyal partners, my friends and without forgetting my family for their unfailing support. Stay connected on the FB page and Instagram MECAMAX to follow my new adventure.”
