No luck for Laurens van Hoepen at his first in OK in a WSK race.
Despite the final result, Laurens van Hoepen still however shone in the WSK Open Cup's first round at the South Garda Karting in Lonato, Italy.
On the track located in the province of Brescia, the Dutch driver was at his OK debut in international competitions under WSK Promotion. After setting the 6th fastest time in Qualifying Group 1, van Hoepen kept his fast pace during the heats without incident or error.
A technical problem, however, put him out of the Prefinal while fighting for an important position. Unfortunately, this also cost him qualifying for the afternoon Final.
Laurens van Hoepen, RFM (FA/Vortex): «It's a shame to end an event this way, but unfortunately this also happens. For my part, I can say that I'm satisfied with the way I drove in previous sessions at the Prefinal and this certainly makes me see the glass as half full.»
Van Hoepen will be back on track in two weeks at 7 Laghi Kart in Castelletto di Branduzzo for the 2nd and final act of the WSK Open Cup.
