Laurens van Hoepen ended in P11 in the last act of the FIA Karting European Championship in Le Mans.
Laurens van Hoepen broke the spell with the FIA Karting competitions and, after the difficulties of Genk and Kristianstad, he found his way back to the Final at Le Mans, where he finished 11th, one step from the top10.
The Dutchman began his adventure on the track that stands adjacent to the last stretch of the Circuit de La Sarthe with the 8th place in his qualifying group, 19th overall. The first 4 rounds saw van Hoepen still in the top part of the top 10, but a penalty in the last raised his score of penalty points, thus relegating him to 18th place.
In the 22 laps of the Final, however, van Hoepen demonstrated his potential by recovering 7 positions and closing in 11th place.
Laurens van Hoepen, RFM (FA / Vortex): “It was, all in all, a positive weekend. I don't go on the track to participate, but to win, yet a wise driver's the one who manages to draw positives from any experience. And I will do so once again. Without the penalty in the last heat I'd certainly have started ahead, but that's racing. Now I'll dedicate myself fully to preparing for the World.”
The next FIA Karting event is scheduled at the Mika Salo Circuit in Alaharma, Finland, from 6 to 8 September
