Pauwels and Stenshorne set the best lap in the Qualifying Practices of the FIA Karting European Championship in Le Mans.
Friday Qualifying at Le Mans, home of the last round of the FIA Karting European Championship.
In pole position: Kobe Pauwels (CV Performance) in OK and Martinius Stenshorne (RFM) in OKJ. The two drivers exploited the right window to make the time with the asphalt showing uneven levels of grip during each category's four practice sessions. This gave the audience and fans a great show, with the cards at stake shuffled and re-shuffled.
OK - Pauwels, what a surprise! The Belgian CV Performance driver amazes everyone and, thanks to the right window of opportunity – and grip - on the track, he takes home pole position. The second best time went to Dino Beganovic (Ward Racing), poleman of group B. Groups C and D are captained by Kirill Smal (Ward Racing) and Gabriele Minì (Parolin).
7th and 9th position for the two drivers in title contention, namely Dexter Patterson (Sauber Karting) and Lorenzo Travisanutto (CV Performance).
OKJ - Stenshorne on pole. With the best time of 52.883 the Norwegian RFM driver snatches pole in the year's last qualifying session, valid for the European Championship. A result that bodes well for the Norwegian.
He is followed by American teammate Ugo Ugochukwu and the leader of the standings Marcus Amand with the third best time. A good fourth place for Andrea Kimi Antonelli, fifth Connor Zilish, a pitch black day for Thomas Ten Brinke with a P63 overall, 11th Jamie Day, eighth and ninth place for Dunne and Bedrin.
Today will be whole dedicated to the heats. The first one for the Junior is at 10.05, while the Senior will start at 11.05.
