The European KZ and KZ2 Championships reach their last act with the weekend in Sarno, the stage to award the double continental title.
On the Naples International Circuit, all the protagonists of the gearbox classes will battle it out during a weekend not to be missed as it's the decisive fight for the final standings of the 2019 European Championship.
KZ - Abbasse aims big
After his success in Germany, Anthony Abbasse is ready to get his hands on the European KZ Championship trophy. The Frenchman was good at establishing himself in the difficult and precarious conditions of Wackersdorf, especially in the Saturday's direct heats, then moving on to Sunday's finals. In second and third place in the general classification, Matteo Viganò and Alex Irlando will try to raise the Italian flag high. Thus it promises to be a three-way fight for the title but only on paper; the remaining top contenders will certainly not remain sitting idling by, starting from Jorrit Pex, Bas Lammers, Marco Ardigò, Simo Puhakka, Fabian Federer and Francesco Celenta, and on to Paolo De Conto and Pedro Hiltbrand, expected to make their mark.
KZ2 - Skaras in the vise
Back from the great victory of the first round, Emil Skaras will start as the favorite in the last appointment in the KZ2 calendar. The Swede will have to watch his back from the all-Italian army composed by Simone Cunati, increasingly leader in the Italian Championship, and Riccardo Longhi in search of a big win. Joining the trio, certainly, homeboy Giuseppe Palomba, David Vidales, Emilien Denner and Giacomo Pollini.
During the weekend in Sarno, there is also room for the FIA Academy race, not yet decisive for the standings, but equally much-awaited for the level of competitiveness and spectacle now reached by the series. Robert De Haan will try to take home a second victory, as will Joshua Coertze and Magnus Germansen.
Appointment therefore to Friday 14 with official qualifications, and then on to the rich program of runs of Saturday 15 June. Grand season finale scheduled for Sunday 16. Updates will follow directly from Sarno.
