The return of Bas Lammers

- Interview
Back to donning the official colors of Sodi Kart, Dutch driver Bas Lammers is ready to return to the top levels for the current season.

At the end of a rollercoaster 2018, albeit winning with the 24h of Le Mans, one of the most popular faces of KZ is ready to make his return to the top of the standings.

"The Flying Dutchman" Bas Lammers showed his competitiveness with the first two Italian appointments for the Winter Cup 2019 and the first round WSK Super Master Series.

Closing in second place at the WSK weekend, Lammers sent an important signal to all the competition, above all for what the World KZ of Lonato shall be. A surefire performance and leadership of the general classification, its off to Sarno for the showdown between Lammers and his rivals.

Here are the words of Bas Lammers:

- Bas, tell me about the first races of the season.
At the Wintercup it went very positive for us as Anthony, my teammate, did a great job by winning this race. I had a technical issue in the final which led me to decide to retire from the race. Our speed during the week was very positive and it gave us a good mood for the first round of the WSK Super Master Series the week after the Winter Cup. During the WSK Super Master Series round 1, we were able to continue our pace and the speed was hopeful and promising for the final. After, good heats and prefinal A gave us the poleposition for the final. We finished the final with a double win! With a victory for my other teammate Adrien Renaudin!

- Are you happy with your come back with Sodi?
I’m always happy with Sodi when I’m with them. This team feels for me as a big family and makes me feel like I’m home. Everybody in our team is extremely motivated and we push each other to a higher level, which makes us all stronger! We have a strong atmosphere in our team and that is what we need to bring home the best results!

- After a really good weekend in Lonato, what is your goal for the FIA season?
Our goal is as always, focussing on top results and doing our best at every race and championships! The speed we have at the moment is very promising for the rest of the season, but it’s not only the driver that makes the result; we are doing it together, the whole Sodikart factory, team manager, employees, engineers, mechanics and staff, TM Racing engines. This is the team behind the driver; together we are strong.

- What do you think of a World Cup fight between Sodi, CRG and Tony Kart?
This year will be very hard for everyone because at the end of 2018 there was the new homologation for engines and with the new regulation that we are not allowed anymore to warm up the engines, it's going to be an issue this season. The World Championship will be held at the temple of karting: South Garda Karting in Lonato. It will be a very exciting race with a lot of drivers, a magnificent ambiance and crowd! It’s the dream of every driver to win at the temple of karting, the World Championship! I’m very excited and looking forward to the battle! We are ready for it.
