The Brazilian of CRG returns to the track after the long winter break and the excellent third place at the OKJ World Championship in Kristianstad (SWE).
After several races in OK, Bortoleto has gathered his first data, useful towards starting his first full year in the new category.
In the archives, the double podium between European and FIA World, with the Brazilian showing his speed since his very first official race in OK, at the WSK Final Cup in Lonato, closing just a step away from the frontrunners. Again at South Garda Karting, Bortoleto will give life to his 2019 with the Winter Cup.
Here are the first impressions of the "All Black" driver.
Gabriel, how was your 2018 and what do you want to improve this year?
2018 was a good year. I always did my best. I learned a lot and I think that during this year I'll improve and learn again. I've just arrived in OK and I still have a long way to go but I'll work for this. I'm very happy to run with the best. In 2019 I'll do, as always, my best to try to win.
What do you expect from this whole season in OK?
I expect moments where I'll have to understand what to improve to win, even if it will be difficult but it's what I'll try to do. There are so many very strong drivers in Senior; we will try to stay with them. I'm sure that this year CRG will have excellent material with which to fight.
What are your goals? Are you ready?
My goals are the same as always: I want to try and win races. Everyone wants to, of course, but in this sport the small details count. Be constant. Do not make mistakes. Have everything perfect. Fight for tenths. In this break I was in Brazil with my family. This helped me a lot. Now I want to win for them. As always I want to thank them because they are special. I also thank Francesco Di Mauro who follows me in every step and will do so again this year and for the next. I thank everyone for the great opportunity.
With this spirit, Gabriel Bortoleto thus prepares for his first effort of the season. The weekend will start as usual with the free practice on Thursday, with qualifying and heats on Friday and Saturday. Closing on Sunday afternoon, the category's finale.
