Vice President van de Grint leaves CIK

Columns: Paddock
Kees van de Grint will no longer be CIK FIA Vice President from next season.

Van de Grint had begun to hold the position of Vice President with the presidency of Sheikh Abdulla bin Al Kalifa. With the latter he had managed to create fertile ground for the changes that have characterized the international scene in recent years (Original Kart and the release spoiler, for example).

The news, in fact, is no surprise; rumors about a possible farewell had become increasingly insistent during the season, the first of Felipe Massa's term as President and of RGMMC as a promoter of CIK FIA events.

The contribution of Kees van de Grint to the growth of karting is undoubted; now it will be important to understand how the CIK will react to this jolt in a fairly turbulent period at the organizational level, especially as regards the polemics related to as yet official calendar.

Who could replace Mr. van de Grint? Among the possible candidates, one cannot fail to mention the Executive Secretary Kay Oberheide.
