Celenta: "Hot or cold? That's not the problem ... "

Francesco Celenta about his first part of the season.

Francesco Celenta reviews the first part of his season, which saw him as the Prague Team's standard-bearer.

The driver from Italy's Campania region said he was satisfied with the vehicle's potential, which didn't seem to suffer the changes in temperature, unlike many direct competitors. The only problem, according to Celenta, could be related to having run few races, the Winter Cup in Lonato and the last of the WSK Super Master Series in Sarno.

In Lonato, the Prague driver finished 4th, just missing the podium, while on the home track he finished 15th having climbed 15 positions from his start position.

Having run less races, potentially a handicap compared to his direct rivals, will however be mitigated by the change of tire suppliers; Bridgestones were used at the Winter Cup and at the WSK, but LeCont will be supplying tires for the European Championship, the same make Celenta ran with during the European KZ2 competition in 2015.

"The change in temperature wasn't our problem," commented Celenta. "We did one single race with extreme cold (in Lonato) where both I and Jeremy (Iglesias) did really well. At Sarno, instead, we were initially very competitive, but then something changed. I'm happy for the good comeback, but now my head is on the European Championship."

And speaking of the European: "This year I will defend the colors of the Prague team in KZ, instead of KZ2. For me it's extremely stimulating. The target? I'm superstitious and won't not say it, but you can well imagine."
