Immediately before the CIK-FIA World Championship, at its meeting on September 21th, 2017 in Paris, France, the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the calendar of the CIK-FIA Championships, Cups and Trophies for the 2018 season.

CIK-FIA tries to resolve the van De Grint's headache (look at out last issue, Vroom #195) with only two European rounds for gearbox classes in Salbris on May 6th and Lonato on July 15th. Direct drive classes, OK and OKJ, will dispute their championships on four rounds and they will start once again in Sarno on April 22nd. PF International will host the second round, then Ampfing, Germany and Essay, France respectively for the third and the fourth round.
The Swedish facility in Kristianstad will host once again a World Championship, but next year Mr. Groth and his staff will welcome OK and OKJ drivers, while shifter drivers will race their world events in Genk, Belgium.
A shorter European championship for all everybody, with events divided between direct drive and gearbox classes, to allow drivers to race in both events. This calendar will also reduce the cost per season. We will ask opinions and thoughts from the PFI's paddock this weekend, so stay tuned!
