The organizers are staying true to their well-tried concept of the German Kart Championship in 2017 as well. After qualifying and heats on Saturday, the best 34 drivers of each class are going to start into the final races. The racing events can be witnessed live via online stream. The live broadcast is going to start on Saturday from 10am and on Sunday from 9 m on www.kart-dm.de. Eight track-, three onboard- and two portable cameras are going to transport all events in HD quality to the World Wide Web. Whether at home or on the road – kart racing fans can experience the German Kart Championship in high quality on their TV, PC, mobile phone or tablet. Last year averagely more than 40.000 viewers followed the five events of the DKM.

The DKM is also going to continue the successful partnership with MOTORVISION TV. The automobile-, engine- and motorsports channel is going to report about each event in a highlight magazine. The summary of Ampfing is going to be broadcast on May 21st at 11:40.

Experienced driver or newcomer – who is going to be the title favorite?

In the German Kart Championship all eyes are on reigning champion Paavo Tonteri (KSM Schumacher Racing Team). The Finn switched to the racing team of former Formula 1 and DTM driver Ralf Schumacher last winter and is seen as a big title favorite. The competition shouldn’t be underestimated though. The DKM’s field of participants is the strongest, counting 46 drivers.

The young drivers are trying to emulate DKM-patron Sebastian Vettel at the juniors. The German Ferrari driver is currently leading the Formula 1 World Championship and set the basis for his career by winning the German Junior Kart Championship in 2001. Reigning champion Dennis Hauger (CRG Holland) switched to the DKM and therefore made way for new champions. The balance of power amongst the youngsters is close as always, which makes it almost impossible to make out title favorites beforehand.

In 2016 Jorrit Pex (CRG Holland) won the German Shifterkart Championship for the fifth time and thereby made history. The Dutchman can’t rest on his laurels though. At the kick-off in Ampfing he especially has to watch out for his little brother Stan Pex (CRG Holland). The youngster finished the year with a victory and already achieved a strong start into the new season. Fabian Kreim (CRG Germany) from Germany dares entering the top tier of kart racing. The Hessian won the German Rallye Championship with Skoda Auto Germany last year.

After a successful premiere the DMSB Shiferkart Cup is going to start into its second season. The first five drivers of last year can’t start at the DSKC again though – therefore there is going to be a new champion at the end of the season. Just like in the debut year the field is again strongly manned with more than 30 drivers and is made up of a mix of youngsters and experienced drivers. The good reaction promises great kart racing once again and is a felicitous addition to the German Kart Championship.
