Press Release by:
France officialized the new OK championships which follow CIK-FIA rules to be a testing ground before CIK-FIA competitions.

France and its national ASN, the FFSA, is working very well to promote national karting as demonstrated by junior drivers: Victor Martins and Theo Pourchaire above the others. We went deeper into this matter on Vroom #187

They officialized the new OK national championships which follow almost all CIK-FIA regulations, except for the minimum weight of OK (150 kg instead of 145 kg). The most important point concerns the tires identical to those used by the CIK-FIA: Vega XH2 and W5 in Junior and LeCont LP and LW in OK which give all its preparatory value to the Coupe de France.

The Coupe de France organized at Le Mans on 27 and 28 May 2017 therefore offers French and foreign drivers the best opportunity to train in race conditions before the CIK-FIA event on 1 and 2 July. This interest may even extend to the drivers of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy which will compete in their 2nd Le Mans competition on the same date and may wish to prepare for OK-Junior.

The same goes for the KZ2 drivers, who were also welcomed at the Le Mans Cup in LeCont LO tires, as well as for teams that can optimize their travel in the Sarthe in several categories. International and national licenses (French or foreign, with the approval of the ASN) are accepted.

An exceptional prize will be awarded to the winners of the French Cup OK and Junior who will be offered their commitment to the CIK-FIA meeting as well as a test day in a F4 French Championship. The 2nd and 3rd drivers will be welcomed by the FFSA Academy for physical tests.

Coupe de France OK, OKJ, KZ2, KZ2 Master, KZ2 Gentleman : 27/28 May – Le Mans

The French OK Championship, now accessible to 14-year-old drivers, in 2017 will have three events and it's also open to foreign drivers who can aim for victory, but not the title.
