The Karting Show at Autosport International, 10-13 January 2008, will honour Britain’s Formula One sensation Lewis Hamilton in his first dedicated feature at the world’s biggest motorsport show, NEC, Birmingham. The Lewis Hamilton Feature will demonstrate how this remarkable 22-year-old has launched himself to the pinnacle of the sport, from karting and through the formulas to a record-breaking inaugural Formula One season.
Lewis Hamilton is one of the most notable karting graduates from the ranks of the McLaren Mercedes Champions of the Future series, now known as the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow championship, of which Lewis is still Patron. “BRDC Stars ofTomorrow is definitely one of the best championships in karting, not only in terms of a series for racing, but also for grooming young drivers to help them progress further in the sport,” commented Lewis.
“Competing in the championship was an integral part of my career and I would not be where I am today had I not participated in it. It gives you excellent coverage, all the top drivers of your age are there and you are able to learn a lot. Moreover, the support from the people who run the series is fantastic. Their support and dedication is vital, and was certainly important in my career.”
Ian France, Autosport International Event Presenter, said: “We are investing more space than ever before for this special Karts to Cars feature. Lewis has always been a regular supporter of karting at Autosport International and so we naturally wanted to dedicate this feature in his honour and hopefully encourage more people, young and old, into the sport as a result.”
