Hanley shows off a couple of smooth overtakes in the prefinal to have the better of Verschoor, Hiltbrand - who seemed strongly in command for over 9 laps - and Correa, as Lennox-Lamb is forced out after a contact with Armstrong.
Unfortunately for the Mad Croc driver, the final is a lot closer than expected, with fellow countryman Tom Joyner coming up strong after a troublesome first part of the weekend. The final becomes an all-British affair when Joyner nudges past Verschoor on lap six following a close tussle also involving Hanley.
Contrasting with a very intense first part of the race, the remainder is a game of nerves between Joyner and Hanley, as the two lap consistently similar laptimes conceding nothing to the rivals. Correa moves back up to 3rd after taking Verschoor on the inside, as the top two cruise to the chequered flag with unchanged positions.
Despite the disappointment of finishing 2nd, Hanley retains the lead in the championship with 65 points, followed by Joyner (52) and a more distant Felice Tiene (31), out in the final.
