Castelletto di Branduzzo (I) 21st March 2010 – With over 200 entries, the 21st Andrea Margutti Trophy, held on the Pista 7 Laghi in Castelletto di Branduzzo has been characterised by light but persistent rain. The unfriendly weather conditions have been stable for the entire weekend, allowing drivers to give their best with no trouble, despite some on-the-edge driving required...
Overall, races were made difficult by the treacherous track conditions, particularly for those fighting mid group. Up front, not much suspence with the exception of 60 Mini category, where Alessio Lorandi and Dionisios Marcu came together after an exciting battle with the driver from Romania spinning around. After the race, stewards called Lorandi in to explain what happened, but tv images showed nothing more than an unintentional racing accident confirming the Italian driver’s win.
In KF3, Loris Spinelli dominated the entire final, with Polish driver Igor Walilko able to match his speed but forced to settle for 2nd due to one too many mistakes. Quite predictable also the remaining two categories. In KF2, Danish driver Jacob Nortoft took the lead at the green lights pulling a gap, with Stefano Cucco 2nd best on the day. German Simon Solgat does just the same in KZ2, with Jack Hawksworth left to fend off Yuri Lucati’s attack for 2nd place.
